Join us for a special Tira Hoe Waka event as we come together on the awa to connect through kaupapa Māori, whanaungatanga, and the practice of waka ama.
By registering for this event, you acknowledge and understand the inherent risks associated with participating in waka ama activities on the river. All reasonable safety measures will be in place, and participants are expected to follow instructions from event coordinators and safety personnel at all times.

By registering for this Tira Hoe Waka event, participants acknowledge and accept the following potential risks:
Drowning or near-drowning due to falling out of the waka or capsizing.
Injury from paddle or waka impact, including bruises, sprains, cuts, or fractures.
Fatigue or physical strain from prolonged paddling or improper technique.
Cold water shock or hypothermia, particularly in cold weather or unexpected immersion.
Sunburn, dehydration, or heatstroke from extended sun exposure without adequate protection.
Collision with other waka, boats, logs, or riverbank structures.
Entrapment or entanglement in ropes, waka parts, or submerged objects.
Adverse weather or water conditions, including sudden changes in wind, rain, or river currents.
Allergic reactions to waterborne organisms, insect bites, or plants near the river.
Medical emergencies (e.g., asthma attacks, heart issues) occurring during activity on the water.
Slips, trips, or falls when entering or exiting the waka or moving around the riverbank.
All participants are expected to:
Wear life jackets or personal flotation devices (PFDs) at all times on the water.
Follow all safety briefings and instructions given by kaiako or event leaders.
Disclose any relevant medical conditions that may affect their safety or participation.
